The Scrum Master is a servant-leader to a feature team with a passion for working with people and teams to help them deliver the most value for our users. The Scrum Master leads scrum ceremonies (e.g. stand ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and removes obstacles/hurdles which may be impeding the team. This person will coach and develop the Feature Team in the adoption of scrum theory, practices, rules and values and help in putting this into practice in a day-to-day working environment. This person ensures continuous clear communication both within the team (Product Owner and Team Members) and across the organisation, with other Scrum Masters, Project Manager and the Portfolio Management Team.

Scrum Master Service to the Product Owner:

  • Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team
  • Finding techniques for effective Product Backlog management
  • Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items
  • Understanding product planning in an empirical environment
  • Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value
  • Understanding and practicing agility
  • Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed

 

Scrum Master Service to the Development Team:

  • Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality
  • Helping the Development Team to create high-value products
  • Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress
  • Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed
  • Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood

 

Scrum Master Service to the Organization:

  • Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption
  • Planning Scrum implementations within the organization
  • Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development
  • Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team
  • Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization

Your knowledge/experience:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Several years’ experience as a Scrum Master with demonstrable skills and proven capability of Agile methodology and scrum techniques
  • Experience of transforming from waterfall to flow systems for software development processes
  • Understanding of the Feature Team’s different skills, i.e. analysis, development and testing
  • Sound IT understanding
  • Experience within the Financial Services Industry a plus
  • Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, with both business and IT colleagues
  • Analytical and structured with good attention to detail
  • Passionate about Agile principles and excited to embed them across the organisation
  • Loves coaching and supporting people to embrace changes to their way of working
  • Fluency in English, German a strong plus
