Your tasks:

  • You are the point of contact between the Berlin business and the UK legal department, i.e. you represent the business also internally in the legal community
  • Assessment of any arising legal questions from the business based on experience, applicable court rulings as well as best practice. This applies in particularly for general civil law, e.g.
    • contract law, T&C`s (BGB etc.)
    • civil procedure law (ZPO)
    • banking law (KWG etc.)
    • online law (TKG, TMG etc.)
    • law of inheritance
  • Development of existing compliance infrastructure in the Berlin business, including monitoring the legal and regulatory environment being applicable for the Berlin business
  • Provide legal advice to new product initiatives/ projects on an ad hoc and individual basis
  • Creation and support in negotiation of new contracts with external vendors as well as internal suppliers including ensuring compliance of T&Cs
  • Support Implementation of regulatory requirements such as, MaRisk or BAIT
  • Organisation and execution of compliance relevant trainings

Your knowledge/experience:

  • Recognised law degree/ economic law degree or equivalent (Master level)
  • Several years of professional experience, preferably in a Compliance function of a financial institution regulated in Germany or within an advisory or auditing company in Germany
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good information analysis/interpretation skills and PC literate (MS Office)
  • Fluency in German and English
